Markets under pressure following attack on Iran in fragile macro environment

Iran 2.0
The new trading week begins in a markedly different atmosphere from the one in which the month ended. The attack by the United States and Israel on Iran, in which, according to reports, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed, represents a significant escalation in the Middle East. This is no longer a targeted operation conducted in the shadows, but an open confrontation with direct consequences for global risk sentiment. Iran has announced retaliation, and the threat of further military action is clearly hanging over the markets.

Are we at Shares Under Ten disaster tourists? Or do we simply wait patiently until a share has been punished so severely that an interesting opportunity emerges? Perhaps we are a little of both. That is simply how the stock market works. Shares rise and shares fall. Yet one thing continues to stand out: once…

Trump promises a deal, and the market still believes him

Over the past few weeks, a familiar pattern has started to emerge. President Trump says that an agreement with Iran over the Strait of Hormuz is close, oil prices fall and equity markets breathe a sigh of relief. Last week, exactly the same thing happened. Trump and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent suggested that an agreement…

Calm Returns Once Again, but for How Long?

After months in which developments in the Middle East determined the direction of the stock market almost daily, a degree of calm appears to be returning. President Trump announced this weekend that he would refrain from launching a large-scale attack on Iran, as he believes both sides are moving closer to a new agreement. If…
